About the Author
Ron Hutchinson is the author of Negative Space Theology: Finding God in What Isn’t There, a thought-provoking exploration of faith, suffering, divine silence, and the presence of God in life’s darkest and most difficult moments.
Drawing from years of pastoral ministry and personal experience, Ron challenges conventional religious thinking, inviting readers to discover God beyond comfortable answers, traditional expectations, and institutional boundaries.
As the founder of Fringe Church in Brisbane, Australia, Ron has dedicated his ministry to people often overlooked or excluded by society and traditional churches. His experiences alongside individuals facing homelessness, addiction, trauma, and rejection have profoundly shaped his understanding of faith and divine compassion.
At the heart of Negative Space Theology lies a powerful question: What if God’s apparent absence is not a sign of abandonment, but a different way of experiencing divine presence?
Blending Christian mysticism, theological scholarship, personal reflection, and real-world ministry experiences, Ron explores how silence, brokenness, and uncertainty can become places of profound spiritual discovery.
More than a theological study, his work is an invitation to embrace difficult questions, stand alongside the forgotten, and discover hope in places where traditional answers often fall short.

"ABSENCE IS NOT THE OPPOSITE OF DIVINE PRESENCE. IT IS OFTEN ITS MOST HONEST EXPRESSION."
